Unix Systems Software Engineer
Contract Position
This contract based position provides the opportunity for a highly skilled system software engineer to maintain and evolve Lumigent’s award winning database activity monitoring technology.
Specifically, the employer is looking for a systems software engineer who can:
-
Participate in sustaining development efforts to maintain and incrementally enhance Lumigent’s log reading technology.
-
Re-factor and modernize components of Lumigent’s data collection engine.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or better in computer science, mathematics, or engineering.
Experience
-
3+ years experience developing commercial, enterprise software systems. A background in development of operating systems, system device drivers, IT middleware & database systems, or networking systems is preferable.

Concrete experience in Agile development methodology
Technical Competencies
-
UNIX system development and debugging
-
C++ development and debugging skills
-
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
-
Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies and software quickly, and apply them effectively in short development cycles.

Conceptual understanding of database system architecture and internals.

Conceptual understanding of database security strategies, concepts, and technology.
Non-Technical Competencies

Strong written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

Able to take ownership of a project from start to finish.
Behaviors & Responsibilities

Troubleshoot level-3 technical support issues

Effectively fix defects in shipping products

Effectively re-factor software components in a controlled manner resulting in high quality deliverables.

Evaluate native auditing, monitoring, and security feature sets to availably in commercial DBMS platforms (Oracle, MS SQL, and DB2 LUW) to determine if the Lumigent’s monitoring product can utilize them.

Effectively estimate work.

Technical Support Engineer
Contract Position

Technical Support Engineers will deliver effective technical customer support to our rapidly growing customer base, delivering solutions to both technical and non-technical end users. Support Engineers may be required to be on-call on a rotating basis throughout the year.
The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for providing high-quality support for Lumigent Audit DB and Assessment software products.
This is a contract based position.

Responsibilities include:

Working with customers over phone, CRM software and e-mail to resolve issues.

Taking ownership of technical issues, and working with the Engineering group, if necessary to resolve more advanced issues.

Manage customer escalations without the need for team lead intervention.

Documenting troubleshooting and problem resolution steps.

Participation in providing training to customers as required.
-
On-call on a rotating basis throughout the year.
Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience in technical support, or technical professional services
- Experience with one or more of Enterprise databases like SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and/or Sybase ASE.
- Well versed in both Windows and UNIX operating systems
- Working knowledge of SQL programming
- Conceptual understanding of database systems and database administration.
