Lumigent Technologies Improves Data Availability with Log Explorer
Leading Transaction Analysis and Data Recovery Solution Solves Data Problems
Acton, MA — October 27, 2003 — Lumigent Technologies, Inc., developer of award-winning data integrity solutions, today released Log Explorer® Version 4.0. Log Explorer is the only solution that identifies the causes of Microsoft SQL Server database problems and recovers critical business information quickly and easily.
Log Explorer 4.0 provides direct access to the Microsoft SQL Server transaction log to solve elusive application or user problems, quickly and selectively recover data online, and salvage data when traditional recovery techniques fail.
With Log Explorer 4.0, users can keep their databases online while they easily locate changes in database transactions, selectively recover modified, deleted, dropped, or truncated data, and export data for follow-up analysis and reporting. Online data repair and recovery features maximize database availability and exceed the capabilities of traditional data recovery.
“I would not do without Log Explorer … I don’t typically buy many third-party products to manage SQL Server, but Log Explorer is a critical tool for me,” noted Kurt Windisch, senior technical specialist at Levi, Ray, and Shoup, the global IT solutions provider whose software is used by most Fortune 500 companies. “Most DBA’s could make use of Log Explorer on a weekly, if not daily, basis.”
Log Explorer 4.0 contains the following new features:
· New alerting functionality provides instant notification on two important events: deadlocking and rollback. In addition, the user interface now allows users to select the type of events that will create alerts and to whom the alerts are sent. In addition, these alert settings may be changed as needs evolve.
· New user-based filtering options have been added to the Filter Log Records functionality. “Login Info” allows users to filter by Windows workstation username and by SQL Server login name. “Application Info” lets users filter by client host name and by SQL Server application name.
· New Restoring Tables from Backup functionality makes it very fast and easy to find a dropped table transaction. The user simply points Log Explorer at a database backup and provides a table name to be restored; Log Explorer does the rest. Users do not have to be attached to a transaction log that contains a drop table transaction for the table. In addition, this new feature recovers data from offline master data files. This expands Log Explorer’s data recovery capabilities to the difficult situation in which the master data file is sufficiently corrupted as to be inoperative with SQL Server, yet the data file contains the desired data.
· New undo/redo commands have been added for stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.
Pricing and Availability
Log Explorer 4.0 is available immediately from Lumigent Technologies. Pricing begins at $1,400. Log Explorer 4.0 supports Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 7.0. Support for additional platforms, including Oracle8i and Oracle9i databases, will be available shortly.
